NPP activist celebrate Sala in a grand style with youth bases

An activist of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Attributo Electoral Area of the Savannah Region has joined the youth of the area to commemorate Eid ul-Fitr.

Karim Inusah popularly know as Genius the writer ,who is the youth Organiser for Regional Ambulance Service Polling station donated fowls to the youth bases in the area to aid them celebrate the Sala and also extended support to the aged in the community.

In all,13 youth bases and some aged groups and individuals received a fowl each plus some assorted items from the youth activist.

The Damongo Youth Parliament caucus leader mobilized the youth of the party to pay homage to community opinion leaders and the clergy as part of efforts to unite the youth of the party and the community.

According to him,the gesture forms part of efforts to consolidate the gains of the Member of Parliament,Abu Jinapor in the area and bring the youth under one umbrella to pursue the common cause of development.

Whilst pledging his continuous support for the youth and community at large,the compassionate leader called on the youth to remain steadfast, disciplined and refrain from practices that have the potential to dwindle our future progress.

The youth groups commended Karim Inusah for the kind gesture, describing him as a true son of the area.

According to them,the youth activist has been very supportive to them and the community at large in areas of development, urging him to keep the good works up.

Work together and serve with humility - NPP reg chairman hopeful urges newly elected executives

A youth activist and a finacier of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Savannah Region, Abass Azumah has admonished newly elected constituency executives of the party in the region to keep the spirit of unity alive and strive at all times to serve the party and the people with humility.

In an exclusive interview with blogger, Ananpansah Bartholomew Abraham, the Savannah Regional chairman hopeful said the internal elections should not break the front of the party in the region, urging both winning and losing candidates to cement their differences and focus on the ultimate goal of consolidating the gains of the party.

According to him,the NPP was capable of achieving its wishful slogan of 'breaking the eight and winning all the parliamentary seats in the Savannah Region if only members would remain steadfast and keep their eyes on the ball.

The young leader used the opportunity to congratulate the winning candidates for the victory won for all, whilst encouraging the 'falling out aspirants to keep up the fighting spirit, for tomorrow is another day.

"I would like to thank, and extend my warmest Congratulations to all Patriotic delegates, and Newly elected Constituencies Executives in Savannah Region for your resounding victories.

This historic mandate received  from delegates is an important factor in achieving future objectives of our great party in Savannah Region.

"It should always be noted that the prime responsibility of a people's representative is to serve and not to be served-humility.

To the losing candidates, tomorrow is another day, for you fought a good fight,but it is only God who gives victory," he said.

He said there was the need for the party to work towards a significant transformation of the political culture of the various Constituencies and bring a positive impact in the lives of the people.

He called on the rank and file of the party to join hands in building a prosperous Savannah Region for all.

"This is our own Region. Hence, the time has come to join hands in building a prosperous Region we promise our people,"he pointed out.

One killed as NDC Savannah Regional Secretary escapes armed robbery attack

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Savannah Regional Secretary, Salisu Be-Awurbe has escaped an armed robbery attack along the Damongo-Sawla- Fulfulso stretch of road enroute Tamale.

The incident which occurred about 3km to Fulfulso-Damongo Junction near Janikura had one of the armed robbers gunned down with the help of a team of Damongo Junction community members and the police stationed at Janikura.

The secretary and the entire team accompanying him escaped the robbery incident unhurt thanks to the vigilance of the police and community members.

A Pump Action or Slide Action shortgun was retrieved from the now lifeless yet-to-be identified armed robber whose accomplishes are currently on the run.

According to information gathered by Blogger, Ananpansah Bartholomew Abraham,the secretary and his entourage were returning from a handing over ceremony of the Damongo Nurses' Training College wing of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN)....

We'll regularize natural resource deposits to benefit all - Savannah Regional Minister to house of chiefs

The Savannah Regional Minister,Saeed Muhazu Jibreal,has enjoined the chiefs and people of the Savannah Region to remain communal as the necessary steps are being taken to regularize the natural resource deposits found in the region for the mutual benefit of all.

At a close door meeting of the Savannah Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs Standing Committee of Eminent Chiefs held at the precinct of the Regional Coordinating Council, he said the natural resource found in the region belongs to the people and must be harnessed, albeit in a sustainable manner for the benefit of the people. 

The meeting was geared towards discussing issues bordering on the regularization of some natural resource deposits in the region for the benefit of the chiefs and people of the respective areas.

According to the minister,the Savannah Region was blessed with natural resource deposits such as: Gold; which is found in large quantities in the Dakurpe area of the Bole District, Manganese, Salt, Quarry, Forest, Cement, River bodies and numerous tourist sites which when regularised, will be of great benefit to the people and chiefs of the Region. 

He committed to working closely with the chiefs and various community leaders in the Dakurpe area to ensure that the Gold Mining Concession in Dakurpe and its environs was regularised to benefit community members and the region as a whole.

Present for the meeting were members of the Savannah Regional Security Council chaired by the Savannah Regional Minister together with the Buipewura Mahama Abdulai Jinapor 11, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I),Kongwura Adamu Seidu Jinkurige,Carpenter Koro Nnaa Solomon Dompey Antwi(II) and Gbanpe Koro.

Kpembiwura Dari Bismark Haruna and Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi (I), who are also members of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs Standing Committee of Eminent Chiefs and billed for the meeting could not attend due to some other equally important routines.

Let's use holy month to pray for peace, tranquility and development - Salaga South MP urges constituents

The Member of Parliament for the Salaga South Constituency, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah has admonished the Muslim Ummah accross her constituency to use the occasion of Ramadan to pray for the peace, progress and development of Ghana.

She said the world was currently on its knees thanks to the global Coronavirus pandemic coupled with the twin evil of the Russia-Ukraine war,urging constituents to be more steadfast in supplication for the poor and vulnerable in society in this trying times.

At a short ceremony to donate assorted food items to the Muslim communities within the East Gonja Municipal of the Savannah Region,the 'much-talked-about legislator indicated that her priority was to see to the welfare and growth of the people of the Salaga South Constituency.

In solidarity with her constituents,the only female MP in the Savannah Region donated bags of granulated sugar, cartons of milk, cartons of tomato paste, Lipton tea among others to the Muslim community to aid them through the rest of the fasting period.

The gesture she noted,forms part of her annual support to the Muslim communities in the constituency and beyond during the month of Ramadan.

According to her,the holy month of fasting was a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement,heightened devotion and worship and above all, atonement for our past sins and errors of life.

She disclosed that, she will in the coming weeks distribute not less than 300 bags of sugar to targeted needy constituents, especially women and Islamic groupings.

Hajia Zuwera charged constituents to remain united, even in the face of the challenging economic times our country was going through under the current dispensation and have faith in her to deliver the best ever development for the constituency.

The beneficiaries of the assorted food items expressed gratitude to the MP for the kind gesture and encouraged her to keep up the good work of rallying together the entire constituency towards the common goal of development and progress for all.

Salaga South MP joins constituents to celebrate triumph connection to telecommunication network

The Member of Parliament for the Salaga South constituency, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah over the week joined exultant constituents to outdoor a new MTN tower that will end the "no network cliche" in the area.

The beneficiary communities include: Abromase, Kigbatitor, Silmunchu, Telkpa, Kiyaghe, Kijewu, Jemtutu, Akamade,Sarkingonaku,Buma and surrounding areas all in the Salaga South constituency of the Savannah Region.

The official commissioning of the MTN Network Tower witnessed sub chiefs from the area, Assembly members, religious leaders,staff of MTN, the youth inter alia joining the Member of Parliament to grace the all important occasion.

Addressing residents at the durbur to hand over the facility,the Member of Parliament expressed delight in the fact that the project was a huge step forward in enhancing economic activities and the general security of the area, whilst improving the standard of living of indigenes of the Kluw enclave.

She expressed gratitude to ATC Ghana,the Telecommunication Service Provider (MTN),Kluw Wura,Kasawura,Chiefs of area, Assemblymen and the people for supporting the initiative to reality.

The Assemblyman for the Abromase Electoral Area, Karimu Sulemana popularly known as Accra Boy indicated that access to network had been a major developmental challenge and concern for the people of the Kluw area for decades.

He was full of praises for the Member of Parliament for facilitating the completion of the project, adding that,"the project is a life changer for my people".

The Kasawura,Kwame Kwabena who spoke on behalf of the chiefs requested for special prayers to be said for the Member of Parliament and conveyed the appreciation of the chiefs to all stakeholders who played diverse roles in ensuring the realization of the project. 

Background:

 In February 2021, Adom news carried a report in the Kluw area titled " Abromase: a Ghanaian community where  residents hang phones on tress for signal, " and depicted it with a picture.

This and many other distressing pleas from the people of Kluw enclave motivated the MP for the area,Hajia Zuwura Ibrahima to commit herself to ending the "zero signal" situation in Kluw. 

By sheer providence, Accrape, a community in the Kafaba ward of the Salaga South constituency which had also been suffering from "the no network syndrome" also got the signals when the 80 foot Abromase tower was commissioned.

The Member of Parliament had earlier commissioned a similar network tower project for residents of Yakubupe.

Be ambassadors of road safety - Savannah Regional Coordinating Director urges youth

The Savannah Regional Coordinating Director, Yaw Adu Asamoah has called on security personnel and the general, especially the youth to be good ambassadors of road safety and instil the spirit of discipline whenever they are plying the road.

He made this call in an address to the public on the occasion of a health walk organized by the National Road Safety Authority, MTTD unit of the Ghana Police Service and the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council to sensitize the general public on road signs and road safety regulations.

With participants drawn from the security services, heads of departments, the christian council, Civil Society Organizations and the general public; Mr. Adu observed that the level indiscipline among road users in the region was assuming an alarming  dimension.

According to him, the lessons in road safety has it that, the safety of the people was what matters the most and not the destination one is travelling to and how fast you get there hence, the need to take some precautions when using the road.

He expressed gratitude to the participants who took part in the Health and Road Safety Campaign walk and urged the security services and the general public to join forces with the National Road Safety Authority to achieve success in saving lives on the road.

The Regional Planning Manager of the National Road Safety Authority,Eric Fodjour, who spoke on behalf of the Director General of the National Road Safety Authority explained that the essence of the walk was to sensitize the general public on the need to adhere to road safety precautions when using the road especially, during the festive seasons. 

He commended the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council for collaborating to organize the walk, adding that, " for the whole of Ghana, this is the first time the security services is collaborating with the general public to fight the war against indiscipline on our roads".

Mr. Fodjour expressed delight in the massive turnout and thanked the participants for joining the fight against carnage on our roads,rather than always relying on the Road Safety Authority to wage the campaign.

He reiterated the fact that, issues of road safety is a shared and a collective responsibility of all stakeholders and a win for all, when the fight is successfully fought and conquered.

He cautioned motorcycle riders and drivers in the region to always be in their helmets and seat belts when using the road.

The Regional Planning Manager however disclosed that, in the year 2021, the number of deaths recorded in the first quarter as a result of road accidents in the region was 44, but has drastically reduced to 24 at the first quarter of 2022,a simple indication that if all shoulders are put together in the fight against indiscipline on our roads, the crush statistics will reduce drastically.
