The Savannah Region has been plunged into mourning following the passing of His Excellency Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu, the elected Council of State Member for the Savannah Region.
The NDC Savannah Regional Secretariat, in a condolence statement issued by Safo Emmanuel Sadari, Deputy Regional Secretary, on behalf of the Regional Secretary, expressed profound sorrow over the death of the respected statesman, administrator, politician and traditional leader.
According to the statement, the death of H.E. Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu represents a significant loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Savannah Region, the Bole Traditional Area and Ghana as a whole.
Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu devoted several years to public service, serving in various capacities across administration, accounting, politics, traditional leadership and community development.
In February 2025, he was elected to represent the Savannah Region on the 9th Council of State, bringing to the position considerable experience in public administration and governance.
His public service record included serving as District Chief Executive for the Bole District from 2009 to 2013. He subsequently served as Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme for the Eastern Region from 2013 to 2017.
He also maintained a long-standing connection with the accounting profession and, since 2005, had served as Chairman of the Educational Accountants Association for the Northern Region.
Within the NDC, Alhaji Abudu was described as a committed party man and a founding member of the party in the Bole-Bamboi Constituency. Until his sudden passing, he served as Chairman of the NDC Council of Elders in the Savannah Region, where his experience and counsel provided guidance to the party's leadership and members.
His contribution to society extended beyond partisan politics and public administration.
In 2013, he was enskinned as the Tingawura of the Bole Traditional Area, assuming a traditional leadership role through which he continued to serve his people and contribute to the development of the area.
His commitment to community development and service also inspired the establishment of the Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu (ASSA) Foundation, a community-focused non-profit initiative aimed at promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life of people in the Savannah Region.
The Regional Secretariat noted that his passing would be deeply felt by the many people and institutions that benefited from his experience, leadership and service.
In the condolence message, the NDC Savannah Regional Secretariat extended its deepest sympathies to the Government of Ghana, the Bolewura and the entire Bole Traditional Area, the bereaved family, and the NDC fraternity across the Savannah Region.
The statement also prayed for strength and comfort for his family, loved ones, colleagues and all others mourning his passing.
The death of Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu comes as a painful reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring importance of a life dedicated to service. His journey through public administration, politics, traditional leadership and community development leaves behind a legacy that will continue to be remembered by many.
As the Savannah Region grieves the loss of one of its respected sons and elders, condolences continue to go to his family, traditional community, colleagues, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May the soul of H.E. Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu, statesman, traditional leader, elder, father and servant of the people, rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.
May his memory continue to inspire us, and may his legacy of service endure.
