First ordinary meeting of West Gonja Municipal Assembly for 2020 : Summary of issues of relevance to Canteen Electoral Area
First ordinary meeting of West Gonja Municipal Assembly for 2020 : Summary of issues of relevance to Canteen Electoral Area
On Thursday July 16,2020,the West Gonja Municipal Assembly in accordance with the Local Government Act,2016 Act 936,held its first ordinary meeting for 2020.
Your humble servant-leader,hon.Ananpansah, B. Abraham (AB) was present and dully represented at best the wishes and aspirations of the people of Canteen Electoral Area.
In pursuit of my pledge and reformation agenda to bring governance closer to the doorsteps of electorates and involve electorates as much as possible in decision making,I present below a summary of issues of concern/relevance to Canteen Electoral Area raised by your servant-leader,hon.Ananpansah AB.
Note: Before this meeting, your humble servant(Assemblyman) through numerous community meetings collated the views of electorates and presented same to the assembly right from the subcommittees level to today's session.
Now to the summary of the issues of relevance to Canteen Electoral Area:
1. In his opening remarks, the presiding Member, hon.Mumuni Mohammed of Apelso Electoral Area condemned outrightly the assault on a colleague honourable member, the Assemblyman for the Canteen E/A,hon.Ananpansah,B Abraham a week ago.
He indicated that the attack on the Assemblyman represents an attack on all honourable members of the Au-gust house and charged the appropriate quarters to get to the bottom of the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.
Thanks to the honourable PM for this bold step(Canteen is grateful)#
2.After a presentation by the Savannah Regional Manager of the Ghana Water Company,Mr.Musah Amidu, your humble servant-leader,hon.Ananpansah B. Abraham(AB) ask pertinent questions with regards to the maintenance, commercial aspect and general management of mechanised boreholes in the municipality.
With specific mention of the Canteen Electoral Area,I sought to find out why the Ghana Water Company takes money from the sale of our two mechanised boreholes, but unable to use the same money to maintain them when they breakdown.I disclosed that we always have to rely on politicians and philanthropist to fix damaged boreholes even though, our women pay for the water they fetch.
(Where does the revenue then go to and where does the community come in-in terms of the management and cash flow of the mechanised boreholes?).
The Regional Manager in response made it clear that they are not in charge of the commercial aspect of the mechanised boreholes as it stands now.He said the West Gonja Municipal division of the Ghana Water Company (GWC) has one officer in the municipality, who is in charge of distribution and not the commercial aspect of the boreholes.According to him,the GWC has plans to take over the management and commercial aspect of the boreholes, but they are still facing challenges with the opening of accounts. So they don't operate any official account in the municipality at present and are unaware of any monies collected.
In effect, the collection of money from the sale points of the mechanised boreholes in the electoral area and municipality at large by some individuals is null, void and illegal.
He concluded by saying the Assembly may be in the better position to explain to honourable members the commercial aspect of the mechanised boreholes.
The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE),hon.Saeed Muhazu Jibreal in adding his voice disclosed that contrary to widely held views, the West Gonja Municipal Assembly is not in charge of the commercial aspect of the mechanised boreholes and don't also know where the monies collected are channelled.
He said the assembly got wind of such collection some time ago and summoned the said individuals over the illegality, since it was not sanctioned by the Ghana Water Company.
The Pandora box was opened and other Assemblymen came in strongly after listening to the varying accounts in response to my questions with similar concerns and the lack of accountability for the so called monies collected.(Emotions fled at this point with honorable members wondering how monies collected for over three year's now can't be traced and accounted for).
Upon several deliberations and the urgent need to stop an illegality that had been perpetuated for years, the MCE directed all Assembly persons where the points of sale are to take charge of the commercial aspect of the mechanised boreholes together with community members, until the GWC fully comes in.
Resolution: Assemblymen to take charge of the commercial aspect of the mechanised boreholes and ensure proper accountability until the GWC fully comes in and take over.
To this end, your humble servant, hon.AB ; together with hon.Helen, the youth chief of Canteen, Unit Committee Chairman and other opinion leaders, met all the vendors and conveyed the outcome of the meeting to them.
This was after a community durbur attended by chiefs and people of the Canteen Electoral Area to deliberate on the outcome of yesterday's assembly meeting. The meeting was well attended and community members were full of applause after listening to the outcome of the meeting.
They added some useful suggestions on how to properly manage the boreholes moving forward, pledging their full support...
Damongo township of which Canteen is part as disclosed by the Regional Manager will soon get a small water system with pipes connected to homes.
3.On the popular Grains Board(Warehouse),which happen to be the only singular biggest warehouse in the municipality located at Canteen Brigade line, your humble servant(Assemblyman) again raised critical questions about the raised roof, dilapidated nature of the facility coupled with the dark nature of the area in the night due to the lack of street lamps to lighten the area at night, making the area a fertile grounds for nocturnal activities.
This was a question I ask after the presentation by the Municipal Agric Director, Mr.Peter Clever.
In commenting on the recent theft case at the facility, I commended the DCE and the SRCC for the swift response, but emphasised on the need to get street lights around the area and raise a temporal security post.
Happy to announce that the West Gonja Municipal Assembly contacted me to engage the services of a night security for the facility, which I've since done.A very energetic young man to be catered for by the assembly is currently at post.
Also, the MCE in response to my question pledged to supply street lights along the road around the warehouse and to assist raise a temporal structure for the security man at post. The bush around the said warehouse will also be cleared.
I have committed to follow up on the two issues and believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Aside the above specifics, Canteen Electoral Area will also benefit from all the other packages available to the district; Planting for Food and Jobs,COVID-Relief packages ad infinitum.
It's important to note that,I've already briefed my Unit Committee members about the outcome of yesterday's meeting.Community elders and opinion leaders have also been briefed.Today, Friday July 18,matters arising from the meeting were accordingly disclosed to community members for wider deliberation at a community durbur organised in collaboration with NCCE.
The community members applauded the bold steps and effort of the Assemblyman.
Special appreciation to honourable Helen Azara for the support. (Together,we can succeed!).
#Let's get involved and build democracy from below and gradually reform Canteen.
I'm committed to making Canteen Electoral Area(E/A) a shining example and a model E/A.(ReformWithAB)#

Media freedom under serious attack at Damongo-NDC raises alarm
Media freedom under serious attack at Damongo-NDC raises alarm
The Savannah Regional wing of the National Democratic Congress is raising red flags over what they describe,"the seeming attack and suppression of the media by NPP led thugs" in the regional capital,Damongo.
According to the NDC,the brutal physical assault of one Ananpansah B Abraham, who is a journalist with PAD FM and the threat issued some journalists go to underscore the fact that the freedom of the fourth arm of government is being stifled.
In a press conference,Mr.Malik Basintale, the Communication Director alleged that invincible forces disguised as National Security operatives as well as self created security personnel have been employed to intimidate NDC agents and people perceived to have deep seated love for H.E John Mahama and hon.Adam Mutawakilu, including journalist.
"That same Thursday, the same Atabia, the Deputy Organizer of the NPP and his team assaulted one Abraham Ananpansah who is a journalist with PAD FM and suppressed the freedom of the media in capturing exactly what has been going on here in Damongo.
These thugs, criminals and social misfits have been moving with four new pick ups suspected to be filled with weapons of mass destruction all in support of the NPP candidate, Lawyer Abu Jinapor,"he noted.
He wondered why the NPP Parliamentary candidate,Abu Jinapor out of desperation would be bent on wining the Damongo constituency seat at all cost.
Whilst insisting that the police and other security agencies have lost their autonomy,he declared an operation "Protect Your Polling Station" and directed all NDC members in the Savannah Region to take charge of their localities and stop intruders from registering as it's against the laws of the country.

PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE NDC-SAVANNAH REGION ON THE ONGOING VOTER REGISTRATION EXERCISE, THE FAULTY NEW MACHINES BROUGHT, BUSING OF PEOPLE AND INTIMIDATION OF INDIGENES BY THE NPP THUGS BROUGHT INTO THE SAVANNAH REGION.
13TH JULY 2020.
Ladies and Gentlemen from the Media, I welcome you to this all important press conference to share with you the NDC’s observations from the ongoing voter registration exercise at the various polling stations.
The National Democratic Congress in the Savannah region has been monitoring the ongoing voter registration exercise that commenced on Tuesday June 30, 2020 and we wish to bring our observations to the attention of the Electoral Commission, the general public and other stakeholders as we have already tolerated enough from the actions and inactions of both the electoral commission and the government.
These challenges if not addressed portends far reaching implications for our electoral process and our democracy.
We will be very brief as a larger chunk of our protests will be demonstrated in physical for all to see and bear witness to that the NDC is not and has never been a timid party.
Friends from the media before I zoom into the various constituencies in the Savannah region I am sure we already know in general the poor compliance to Covid-19 protocols at registration centers, Poor public education on registration exercise especially in the thick villages, poor public education on registration schedules among others are very common fallouts in this whole new register brouhaha amidst the huge sums of money taken by the Akufo-Addo led government for this exercise.
We will not bore you so much in repeating to you what you already know and are unanimously peeved with.
Let's start with:
Lack of Logistics and Poor human resource by the electoral commission.
All Electoral commission officials across the centers in the Bole-bamboi Constituency claimed they had no paper to do end of day print out for agents. They left data in the system and agents had to rely on what they had recorded personally at the centers.
Some polling stations did not make provision for a generator and as such found it difficult to power their systems since their batteries couldn't last any long and an example is the Gbenfu polling station in Bole and other polling stations that had power did not have a common extension cord to get electricity from a short distance.
Data entry clerk at Bnyukon polling station was extremely slow making the whole process very slow due to lack of training in the whole process.
Tinga A and B which are part of the second phase was under staffed, officers couldn't register the number of people who turned out to register.
On Sun. 12th July,2020 in the Sawla-tuna-kalba constituency,
The EC halted the entire exercise for about three (3) hours at Goyiri no.2 community centre due to a faulty machine. Due to that a total number of just 32 were registered at the end of the day.
At Tampoe community centre, the cartridge could not print, so the exercise was halted until the officials went back to Sawla.
At Nakwabi R/C Prim school, the machine automatically switches on and off there by delaying the Registration process.
At Sawla St. Cyprian's seminary SHS, most of the applicants went back home due to the faulty nature of their machine.
The new machines used by Phase three within Sawla constituency can be said to be entirely faulty. The process has become extremely slow creating unnecessary tensions at registration centers.
At the Daboya Mankarigu Constituency,
Some of the first 7 machines that were deployed in the first batch to the constituency experienced problems with batteries since there were no extra batteries for them to use.
The Constituency leadership of NDC had to provide an extension cord for the officials of the EC to continue. This happened in the NDC strongholds such as LA Primary school and Daboya Town Park.
There has been a deliberate late arrival of Electoral commission officials to centers and an example was 3 days ago at Nyantan in the yapei-kusawgu constituency, as at 11am the EC officials were yet to arrive at the center.
In the Salaga North constituency for example. Registration officials live in Tamale and have to travel everyday for about 2 hours before getting to some polling stations making them extremely late to the various centers and as such reduces the number of persons who register in a day.
More than 90% of persons recruited by the electoral commission in the Savannah region are NPP persons and have no skills in basic registration procedures. They keep goofing and are very slow in typing affecting once again the number of persons who register in a day.
EC staff at E/A Primary Mandari have to stop work every hour to wait for their machines to cool down before they start work.
They complained that their machines had made the registration very slow.
As at 4:18pm, they had only 56 people registered meaning they couldn't meet the daily target of 100 or more people.
At Nyantan in the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency, EC officials didn't report to work yesterday at all and for whatever reasons we don't know.
On the matter of Rejecting Fulani's
There was an ugly scene at Butei in the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency where members of the New Patriotic Party were preventing residents of the Fulani extraction from registering in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
We are very much surprised that members of the NPP will partake in such an illegal tribalistic discrimination when they have a whole second lady, Samira Bawumia, the wife of the vice president being a Fulani and votes here in Ghana.
These Fulani's had their parents born here in Ghana before 1957, were born here themselves, some married to Ghanaians and as such have every legal right to be registered to vote as they are Ghanaians so far as the laws of the land are concerned.
We in the NDC will continue to protect them, we will protect the law that gives them legitimacy as we condemn such acts in totality.
On matters of the phase 3 registration
There has been a deliberate dispatch of new registration machines into the Savannah region that are 10 times slower than what was used in the past.
Whereas at the beginning of the entire registration process we were able to get above 120 persons in a day registering, you can hardly get more than 60 people registering in a day all because of the slow pace of the machines brought into the Savannah region.
In other areas the machines keep overheating and have to be turned off in order for them to cool down so they continue the process.
A Polling station like Gou in the daboya-mankarigu constituency suffered a lot of setbacks whiles registering yesterday.
In the end, less than 40 people got registered instead of the usual 100 and above registrations daily.
At the close of the day in Yapei Madinaline registration Center in the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency, We recorded 87 people. Yapei presby A1 recorded 100 and Alipe recorded 83.
The technicians who have been using the machines are still the same workers, yet whiles they use to register about 160 and beyond, due to the new machines brought, the numbers keep reducing every day due to the extra slow speed of the machine.
We can go on and on in mentioning constituencies with same challenges and all these appear to be our strong holds.
We suspect a deliberate sabotage of Former President Mahama's backyard, an attempt to disenfranchise our people and as such took away our fairly normal machines for Very very slow ones.
The issue of busing and Security intimidation
In Daboya and at polling station (L/A primary school Daboya) on day 3 of the second phase, one of our agents by name Ewuntomah Luman was beaten mercilessly when he challenged some persons bused by the NPP and brought to register. He was attacked by one of the NPP thugs in Daboya popularly known as "Red Bawa, dirty boys".
These thugs go about the constituency with pepper spray, electric police shockers and other arms of human destruction just to deter NDC supporters from registering to vote for H.E John Mahama and Mp Hon. Shaibu Obei.
Let us zoom into the Damongo constituency.
There has been rampant busing of people from all around the regions into the Damongo constituency.
Recently a full bus of people from the Kintampo North constituency was stopped on the way by indigenes of the region and upon questioning it was revealed that they were being brought by the NPP to register in the damongo constituency, Vote for Akufo-Addo and the parliamentary candidate Samuel Abu Jinapor.
The bus was taken to the police station and asked to return to wherever it came from.
Ladies and gentlemen the bus drove straight to a Polling station, dropped the people and they were registered in full presence of thesame security personnel and electoral commission which was challenged with it's forms. Upon confrontations, a scuffle broke out and some got injured in the process.
The busing of strangers into the constituency has become a daily norm yet the security services are unable to intervene as a result of so called "Power from above".
On the 30th of June, 2020, at kurabaso polling station, Our constituency Communication officer and members, kiyoyo, Zambache and kalacuta were attacked by one Nsorwura who is the leader of the NPP invisible forces here in damongo.
On 1st, July one Atabia who is the secretary of the invisible forces assaulted one Waliu, a brother to the MP for Damongo, Hon Mutawakilu Galus.
That same Thursday, the same Atabia and his team assaulted one Abraham who is a journalist of pad fm and suppressed the freedom of the media in capturing exactly what has been going on here in Damongo.
Some invincible forces brought from Accra and acting as national security persons have been intimidating our agents especially at the Busunu zone including an ambush of our constituency chairman, trouble at tailope, a sabbath of Damongo.
These thugs, criminals and social misfits have been Moving with four new pick ups suspected to be filled with weapons of destruction all in support of the NPP candidate, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor.
Just last week, additional Four warriors and known gang leaders were brought from tamale, paid and asked to attack anybody they see against the NPP in Damongo.
It has been revealed that all these thugs meet at a special location which is under investigation at Abingakura to share monies given to them and then plan towards the next days attacks on NDC persons and media persons suspected to be against them.
Why has Damongo suddenly become a place of fear?
Why will the people of the Damongo constituency suddenly have to sleep with one eye opened?
Why will Registration zones become so fearful that indigenes cannot go out to register?
Why has the ambition of Akufo-Addo and Samuel Abu Jinapor become a do and die affair to the extent of using self created security to intimidate people who have deep love for H.E John Mahama and Hon. Mutawakilu?
What happened to the peaceful political atmosphere of damongo in the past?
Why will Akufo-Addo allow for such tensions to be created in Damongo to the extent that, our overlord the Yagbon-wura will have to get involved in resolving matters of political parties?
Ladies and gentlemen, though we sympathize with the police and legitimate security services on their power taken from them, we encourage them to take their autonomy into high esteem and not to allow themselves be used by the already losing Akufo-Addo led government. This government has already exhibited gross failure and super incompetence and nothing at all can save them from the anger, hunger and frustrations of the Ghanaian people deliberately caused by President Akufo-Addo.
We wish to state that, we are no longer going to allow for such intimidating acts in the Damongo constituency and beyond.
We are hence going to exhibit the full realms of the boot for boot analogy as declared by our party the NDC.
We will face the NPP all round and nothing, absolutely nothing can stop us from safeguarding the interest and will of the good people of the Savannah region.
We are sending a strong caution to the NPP to be mindful of their actions and not to take our tolerance for granted.
The NDC is not a timid party and will not allow our long standing peace and stability in the Savannah region to be downplayed.
We will protect the land and citizenry with all our might and strength.
We hereby declare an Operation "Protect Your Polling Station" and direct that all NDC members in the Savannah region take charge of their localities and stop all intruders from registering as it is an exercise against the law.
We are sending a strong caution to persons who will allow themselves to be bused or sent here to register for the purposes of voting for Akufo-Addo and their parliamentary candidates to save their lives by rejecting such offers as it is a danger trap deliberately set for them to fall in and they will meet us half way their journey into the region.
We will face them, We will face them and within the remits of the law we will ensure they are sent back probably not the same to wherever they came from.
Ladies and gentlemen this is an agenda for the good of Damongo, an agenda for the Savannah region and an agenda for God and country.
The people of the Damongo constituency must be allowed to register and decide whoever they want to lead them.
The Action starts Now!!! Aluta Continua
We thank you all for coming.

Malik Basintale

Canteen born Chinese student canvass for votes as NUGS president
Canteen born Chinese student canvass for votes as NUGS president
A resident of Canteen in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region,Mr.ZANKAWAH SANUSI MUMUNI (KRIS),is currently a PhD.Economics student of the University of International Business and Economics in China.
He has launched a spirited campaign to occupy the presidency position of the National Union of Ghana student, China Chapter.
Mr.Kris,a very dedicated and hard working young man who brings on board candour, humility, new direction and new vision for a reformed NUGS has this to say in his manifesto:
MANIFESTO
(ZANKAWAH SANUSI MUMUNI (KRIS)
ASPIRING PRESIDENT,NATIONAL UNION OF GHANA STUDENTS (NUGS-CHINA)
Mr. Chairman, Specially Invited Guests, National Senate, National Executive Officers, Committee and Board Members, the Provincial Senate, Chapter General Assemblies, Chapter Executive Council, Chapter Committee boards Fellow NUGS members, Ladies And Gentlemen, all protocols duly observed.
In name of the Almighty Allah, the most merciful; I bring you warm salutations!
Mr. Chairman, permit me to first of all thank God the Almighty for seeing us through the semester this far, especially,in this era of pandemic and to congratulate the current executives for the great leadership shown at the peak of this period.
Haven't prayed fervently about the task ahead, I believe I owe it a duty to God, Country and humanity to present this manifesto promise as a first step in the student leadership paradigm and transformation agenda as the president in waiting for NUGS-CHINA;insha Allah!
As courtesy demands,I wish to briefly introduce myself:
Fellow students, compatriots, dear friends;my name is Zankawah Sanusi Mumuni, PhD. Economics student of the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing.
I currently hold Masters degree in Economics (Transport & Logistics option) from the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing.I am proud to say that I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT-UK) and a member of the International Trade and Finance Association (ITFA) US.
At present,I am serving as a teaching assistant of Macroeconomics at the University of International Business and Economics.
In the advent of the Coronavirus,I co-authored a publication in an A class journal titled: Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Response;Highlights of Ghana’s Scientific and Technological Innovativeness and Breakthroughs.
Previously,I worked as a research assistant at the Center for New Structural Economics at Peking University, Beijing.
In the 2016/2017 academic year,I served as the General Secretary of NUGS- Beijing Chapter, during this period I played diverse roles aside my constitutionally mandated roles that lifted NUGS to higher grounds.
Compatriots,as a servant-leader and coming from a strong academic and professional background,I deem it a great privilege to share my thoughts with you on the grand vision and mission mapped out to move our union forward if elected as the President of this noble union.
Nelson Mandela of blessed memory once remarked;"a leader is like a shepherd. He stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind".
I take so much inspiration from the above quote and can pledge that under my tenure of office,I shall promote an all-inclusive student front in which I will lead by being a servant to you,the students.
In the spirit of growing the student front and my many years of experience working with students in this part of the world,I've identified the following challenges of which I'm willing and able to proffer solutions:
To start with,I have identified that students often find it very difficult to write their thesis,to get adequate information on the research they are doing and accessing just information on Ghana and the world at large.
Remember the first time you ever set foot in China? How confused you were, how hard it was to find your way.For some of us, if we had not made a friend before, this would have been even harder.I noticed that we do not have a handbook for students coming into China.
Actually,I am still discovering things that can be done better, cheaper options for goods that I had no idea about a few months ago or some years ago.China is quite complicated and very hard to get around and find your bearings.
The lack of a handbook is what enhances this problem. It even stems down to the simple arrival confusion at the airport when you discover that there is no one to pick you from the airport, and all people speak only Chinese, including the taxi drivers. The lack of help from the body representing students’ welfare makes it even harder.
I would exploit my vast experience to address this challenge headon and shall be telling you how? .
There is a lack of strong bonds between different chapters. I have noticed, through experience that a team is made up of different parts, all these parts are aware of the functions of the others, and they work in harmony to create a fully functioning human. I noted that currently, it is difficult to get the actual concerns of the students if we only interact with presidents of various chapters.
I feel that the lack of an all inclusive regular meeting of the entire leadership representing the students at chapter level and national level leads to some issues being overlooked.
Revenue mobilization is difficult because we do not have a representative from each university to collect dues and subscription for NUGS. There are currently some universities without any executive representation of any kind, which might make it difficult to coordinate with them.
In addition, it is important that we have transparency in the Union.Currently, the system of only doing audits annually makes it harder to account for the revenues and expenditure in the Union.
Chinese are always seeking for investors. It is interesting to note that they are always seeking new innovative ideas from others. I found an issue however, Ghanaians are smart and as students, I have talked to a number of people and they have brilliant ideas that end only in the bedroom. We have no platform to pitch our ideas and be heard and probably, gain a mentor to help us realize our full potential.
There is need for such a platform and this is very attainable with the Kris Agenda.
It is important, also, to ensure that students are participating in all the important activities of the Union which is currently not the case as we have an average small number of students attending activities and other things organized by the Union.
The issue then is how to encourage participation by looking at the root of the problem. Are the activities organized appealing? Are they relevant? What exactly do the students want to see more of?
my vision capture solutions to all these challenges.
As mandated by our constitution,I shall work within the remits of my duties as the president if elected, while ensuring that my vision puts the welfare of members of the union paramount. To achieve these goals, my administration shall;
Build an online library within the NUGS-China website to archive the thesis and dissertations of all graduating students that will be accessible to all students studying in China and other stakeholders who may want to use the outcome of these research for academic and policy making purposes.
Develop a handbook detailing all that new students need to know before embarking on their journey and to study in China and how to settle in quickly after arrival.
Involve all chapter members in NUGS-China activities by holding meetings with all chapter at least twice every semester
Develop a roadmap for students’ pickup on arrival in their various provinces by Chapter Executives.
My administration will encourage each university to elect a representative so that students can pay their dues within the first one week on arrival.
I shall liaise with the National Executive committee members, to give account of the revenue and expenditure of the union once every month to ensure transparency and accountability whilst in office.
My administration in collaboration with the embassy of Ghana shall form an entrepreneurial incubator, to nurture students that have great business ideas, and to link them with Chinese investors to bring these ideas in to reality.
To ensure an all-inclusive participation in NUGS-China activities, online Seminars,Conferences and fares shall be organized for various disciplines and certificates of participation shall be awarded to students.
You can do what I cannot do.I can do what you cannot do. Together we can do great things. – Mother Teresa.
We have no reason to falter; we have no reason to lug behind; we are blessed with all the opportunities to succeed. We only have one reason to succeed and make NUGS-CHINA better again. And that reason and Sanusi Zankawah Mumuni.
It's my firm resolve that NUGS-CHINA would never be the same again under my leadership. I bring on board common sense solutions, candour, humility, new direction and a new vision for a new NUGS-CHINA, full of hope .
The choice is yours to get results with Zankawa Sanusi Mumuni (Kris).#Join the wining trail.
#For Kris;for a better NUGS-CHINA.
God bless!

Elders of Canteen register displeasure over assault on Assemblyman by NPP Task Force
Elders of Canteen register displeasure over assault on Assemblyman by NPP Task Force
The Chiefs, elders and opinion leaders of Canteen in the West Gonja Municipality have registered their displeasure over the brutal physical assault on the Assemblyman for the Canteen Electoral Area, hon.Ananpansah B. Abraham.
According to the elders, the attack on the Assemblyman who represents the entire Electoral Area translate to an attack on the integrity and legitimacy of the entire Canteen Community.
In a letter addressed to the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom,Yagbonwura Tutumba Boresa and copied to the clergy and various security agencies, the Overlord was invited to intervene in ensuring that justice is served in this case by the appropriate quarters.
Signed by the youth chief,Imam,Chief Butcher and a major opinion leader, the epistle disclosed that it may be very difficult to control the anger of the youth and people of Canteen should the case be relaxed, noting that,it took the timely intervention of the elders to stop what would have led to reprisal attacks.
The Assemblyman who doubles as a PAD FM Reporter, hon.Ananpansah B. Abraham was attacked by a gang of eight New Patriotic Party youngmen identified to be from 77 Junction led by one Atabia Anoma Rahim, the Deputy Damongo constituency Organizer of the party.
He was attacked with sticks and stones few meters away from the Damongo fire station, whilst returning from school and sustained minor injuries over a report he filed on PAD FM.
Taking caution from the murder of the Sagakope Electoral Area Assemblyman, the elders demanded of the NPP as a political party to dissociate itself from the unfortunate behaviour of the Deputy Organizer and render an unqualified apology to the people of Canteen Electoral Area.
Portions of the letter noted that, the Assemblyman earlier on reported a threat on his life by the said Anoma Rahim on Thursday July 2,before the final attack was executed on Monday July 6,but the police was yet to cause any arrest.
"The mob attack on the Assembly person, who has attracted wide admiration and love from the youth, women, children and the entire community is an affront to the legitimate authority, wishes and aspirations of the people of the electoral area....The attack on the Assemblyman, who represent the entire Canteen Electoral Area we dare say is an attack on the entire Canteen Community-its youth, women, elders and the entire people of Canteen,"The elders noted.
The community noted that should anything happen to the Assemblyman hence off,the said Atabia and his gang men would be held accountable.

PAD FM Reporter/Canteen Assemblyman gives vivid account of how he was threatened & subsequently assaulted by NPP Task Force
PAD FM Reporter/Canteen Assemblyman gives vivid account of how he was threatened & subsequently assaulted by NPP Task Force
DELIBERATE UNINTELLIGENT DISTORTED CONTRADICTIONS CHURNED OUT BY ONE DEPUTY ORGANIZER OF THE NPP, ATABIA RAHIM ANOMA IN THE MATTER OF ASSAULT ON PAD FM REPORTER/ASSEMBLYMAN FOR CANTEEN
My attention has been drawn to an appalling interview granted by one Atabia Anoma Rahim,an appointed Deputy Organiser of the NPP in Damongo constituency on NKILGI FM in Bole.
I noticed the nomenclature called Atabia struggled with the Microphone trying to import non existing issues into the matter to court the sympathy of his parliamentary candidate and party members. (I am happy he voluntarily dragged the name of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Lawyer Abu Jinapor into the report).#None of my business though.
Not only was the inaudible apology of a Deputy Organiser confused throughout the interview, but he doubled in a lot of deliberate contradictions, factual inaccuracies and distortion of facts to save his shameful face.I doubt whether he has any shame left in him though.
I feel politically sorry for whoever Sanctioned the activities of this youngman and his gang men who have become so arrogant with power to the dismay of the general public.
The said Atabia mentioned about his integrity in the said interview; but I'm sorry to point to him that he has since lost his integrity and can only be struggling to redeem his sold conscience. If he doubt, he can conduct an independent opinion poll about himself and report back.
He also challenged the people of Canteen in the said audio interview to arrest him if they think they have rooms, indicating that he is above the law, everybody in Damongo and even the creator(Almighty God);because he has the support of powerful forces in government.
For the seek of emphasis, not even a single word that emanated from the said indefenseless down-and-out interview by the said youngman is true.Atabia should be bold enough to make audio evidence of his allegations available to the public or his party for assessment and see whether he would not be embarrassed and stripped naked before the intelligent public.
I wish to start by appreciating the youth, elders, women, children of the Canteen Electoral Area and indeed the entire Damongo and beyond for the enormous show of solidarity, love and support.Infact, I feel accepted and relevant and would forever contribute my best quota to the development of the community no matter the intimidation.I was inundated with your many calls and messages of solidarity.
To my radio station Manager, Mr.Zaabelle Mathew and the entire management and staff of PAD FM for standing by me in this trying times. We remain bonded together. There is light and smile at the end of the tunnel as all evil doers will pay dearly for their sins. Our God indeed is not dead, but alive.
NB. Most of the statements by the appointed Deputy Organizer in the said interview are disjointed and fragmented,so its pretty difficult to adduce any meaning from what he was trying to say.For instance, you cannot say Abu Jinapor who was not even in town was alleged to have shot a gun at the grounds.
Once the matter is under investigation and he has now revealed that he and his colleagues attacked me based on a report I gave at the Kurabaso J.H.S.,I wish to give a vivid account of what transpired for the benefit of the discerning public.
To further note, the said Atabia who never monitored the report himself was misled with the distorted facts by one Rahim,a Zambarima boy who was stationed at number one.
(Atabia can as well make sometime and read so that he doesn't get consumed with emotional hearsay). On a normal day, I wouldn't have glorified the said Atabia with any response, since he does not merit one from me.But for the seek of the public,I wish to break my silence on this matter.
To set the records straight:
On Thursday,2nd July,2020,as I was in school,I received a call from the Kurabaso polling station that there was an incident which may likely spark chaos out of disagreements and that I needed to come and witness and thereafter, file a report.
What was the incident? Some protested UDS students were brought to the registration center to register under the guise that they were from the Canteen Electoral Area.
As the Assemblyman for the area,I was asked upon arrival to identify the said people, since I was told they said they were from Canteen.
Tried as I did,I couldn't just identify any single soul among them bearing any semblance or having any link to the community-Canteen.So outrightly,I disclosed that none of those people was from the Canteen Electoral Area.Maybe I committed a crime by spelling out this naked truth.
Upon interaction with two of the students, they agreed that they were students from UDS who are permanent residents of Tamale,Nyoni to be precise.
They were subsequently turned away by the security with the reason that there was not supposed to be public gathering at the registration center. At this time, the NDC and the NPP agents were engaged in a heated debate over the matter of their residency and right to register.
As the students were returning,a group of young men dressed in black apparels led by the said Anoma Atabia Rahim alighted from three separate cars and instructed the students to return to the polling center and register.
They were full of fury and insisted that no one can turn away the students from registering. This resulted in serious confrontations and physical attacks between the few NDC members present and the NPP taskforce leading to the said Atabia using a stool to hit the head of Amadu Waliw, the Deputy Elections Director of the NDC to a serious injury. This happened before my very eyes and I saw the deliberate use of the stool to hit the youngman by Atabia who started the fight.
Whilst this was happening,I sought for refuge from a small distance and carried a comprehensive report on the unfortunate disturbances on PAD FM.What I saw, I reported without any excesses.
Some 30 minutes after the report I made,I got a call from the Deputy Organiser of the NPP,a senior Canteen Yaaro,Mr.Abu Jaja seidu, who indicated that someone called him and said I reported the NPP shot guns at the scene.I made him understand that was never the report I gave and that I wish he had personally monitored the program.
For the respect I have for him, I indicated I was going back on air the very minute to give clarity to my report.Upon explaining myself, the Organiser understood me and the matter died off.
"I clearly reported that there was warning shots suspected to be from the police by way of controlling the ramping youth, but to no avail and that one Atabia Anoma used a stool to hit the head of Mr.Amadu Waliw who has since been hospitalised.
I implored the security agencies and the Municipal Security Council to step in and calm tempers before things get out of hand.I also implored them to investigate allegations of some party taskforce wielding weapons before Damongo is plunged into chaos.
Minutes after my followup report,I got a call from a strange number who identified himself as Anoma Atabia Rahim. All I could hear was,"when I catch you, I will deal mercilessly with you"...But since I was in a zoom meeting,I ended his call with the intention of calling back for clarity.
I nearly took his words lightly, until three people afterwards confirmed to me that the said Atabia made open statements at the registration grounds to the effect that I was his next target and that he was going to attack me.
He was also alleged to have said that I would see Damongo and may not be able to stay in it.
I immediately dashed and reported the matter to the Savannah Regional Police Command the same Thursday, who took my statement.Follow ups were made to the police station on Friday when I suspected the said Atabia and his gang were trying to ambush me, but I was told the investigator handling the case was not around.
On Monday July 6,at about 1:10pm,as I was returning from school, the said Atabia and seven other colleagues of his crossed me along the Canteen road few meters away from the Damongo Fire station.
He the Atabia asked three times whether I was the journalist who always give information to the public.I never authored a word, and before I could notice it all eight of them surrounded me and he the Atabia hit my head with a stone and the rest started hitting me with sticks and other hard materials.I became helpless until onlookers intervened and assisted me to escape for my life.
Immediately after that,I was assisted by one of the young men to the Regional Police Command where the report was lodged.I was given a medical form to attend the hospital and report back of which I've dully done.
The police today,Tuesday July 7, invited the young men, but they refused to turn up as at the close of day.
Patiently waiting for the next line of action by the police. We'll pursue this matter to its logical conclusion.Insha Allah.
This is a vivid account of the entire episode; nothing more, nothing less.
So read and judge for yourself, where a crime has been committed if not arrogance and abuse of power.
We've no physic to fight, but the law is our strength;Forces may try to come in but we shall triumph with God,humanity and the truth on our side.

ARREST AND PROSECUTE NPP DEPUTY YOUTH ORGANISER AND HIS HOOLIGANS WHO ATTACKED OUR ASSEMBLYMAN OR WE TAKE THE LAW INTO OUR OWN HANDS
We the youth of Canteen have taken notice of the unfortunate attack of our very humble Assemblyman, hon.Ananpansah B. Abraham by eight(8) NPP gangsters led by one New Patriotic Party Deputy Organiser, *Atabia Anoma Rahia* who is a known criminal.
All eight of them including one Kamaldeen of 77 junction ambushed our Assemblyman, pounced on him and assaulted him with sticks and stones smashing the screen of his Samsung Tablet Mobile Phone.
Mr.Atabia,a known ruffian and his colleagues we are told have the backing of the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Damongo constituency who doubles as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Law Abu Jinapor to engage in this lawlessness. (So we call this a sponsored attack).
We want to let the Deputy Chief of Staff know that this singular action by his sponsored thugs on our Assemblyman who is known for his wide love and affability is totally dwindling his integrity and popularity among the enraged public.
The attack which is sponsored is currently raising a whole lot of tension and fury within the entire Canteen Electoral Area.
We have gotten the sanction of the elders and opinion leaders of Canteen to issue this strong statement calling on the Regional Police Command to cause the arrest and prosecution of the Deputy NPP Organiser,Atabia Anoma Rahim who led the thugs together with his seven other ruffians or we will take the law into our hands.
We have also taken notice of the fact that the Assemblyman launched a complaint against the said Atabia Anoma Rahim last Thursday for threatening his life, but no invitation has been extended to Atabia and no action was taken by the police.
Measuring the level of anger within the Canteen Electoral Area,we the youth of Canteen may not be able to control the fury of the people should this case be relaxed.
We wish to sound a warning to all NPP fraternity to call those gangsters to order or they will turn this town to a Banana Republic where the law will not be respected.
We also wish to draw the attention of the DCE who is the leader of the Municipal Security Council to the fact that the invasion of the town by such gangsters without any authority calling them to order can jeopardise the peace of the municipality.

S/R: 3 tied overnight for stealing a goat at Damongo
Three young men, Jelil, Abdalah and Alhaji Adam were on Wednesday night tied standing to a tree at Yagbon Residential Area (YRA), a suburb of Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality till morning for stealing a goat.
Youth of the area said stealing at the community has reached alarming levels hence their action.
Akilu Gideon of PAD FM who was at the scene when the three were being sent to the Damongo police station on Thursday morning reported that the three were undressed leaving only their boxer shorts as they walked them through the principal streets of town to the police.
He said according to the youth, the thieves confessed that two of them stole a goat and fled on a motorbike three days ago,but were seen by the third suspect as they fled.
The third guy called his colleagues and demanded a share of the proceeds of the stolen goat to keep quite, but days after following up for the booty without success,he decided to break into their room on Thursday dawn ostensibly to pick something as a replacement but was apprehended by a young man in the house.
After questioning,he confessed the crime saying he was only looking for his friends to collect his share and just as the youth in the area were planning what to do with him,his partners arrived and were also apprehended.
Listeners who phoned into the PAD FM Kariyankye super morning show demanded the thieves be punished by the police to serve as a deterrent to others.
This they say will reduce the rising incidence of steeling in the Savannah regional capital.

Voter registration: Damongo NPP Deputy Organizer threatens PAD FM reporter
Voter registration: Damongo NPP Deputy Organizer threatens PAD FM reporter
A Reporter for PAD FM at Damango in the newly created Savannah Region, hon. Ananpansah,B. Abraham has lodged an official complaint at the Savannah Regional Police Command against one Rahim Anoma Atabia, the NPP Deputy Damongo constituency Organizer for threatening his life.
The life threatening calls and warning follows a report the Development Journalist carried about an incident that occurred at a Registration Center in the Damongo township.
According to Mr. Ananpansah who is also the Assembly Member for the Canteen Electoral Area in Damongo, few minutes after he reported an unfortunate disturbance at the Kurabaso polling station involving the accused and some NPP members on one hand and the NDC on the other hand,he got a hostile call from the said Atabia which he ended abruptly because he was in a Zoom meeting.
The honourable man indicated that the horror and anger in the voice of the NPP Deputy Organizer was too much to the extent that he couldn't clearly hear the venom he was spewing, but all he could hear was that,"Abraham, I will beat you mercilessly when I catch you".
He said he later received three separate calls and several prompts after the Zoom meeting from the Polling station that the accused person made open statements at the registration center that he,Ananpansah was his next target and that the reporter will see Damongo and may not be able to stay in it.
Though he could not immediately tell the reason for his threat, he believes it’s in connection with the accurate and comprehensive report he gave which indicated the accused person used a stool on the Deputy Elections Director of the NDC at the time of the confrontation who has since been hospitalized following a head injury.
The unfortunate disturbances which temporally halted the registration exercise saw the police shooting warning shots in an attempt to control the rioting crowd.
He said he as a reporter,“was at the polling station at the time of the incident, saw and reported what happened".
The Assemblyman also indicated that he will hold the said Atabia responsible should anything happen to him.
Asked whether the people of Canteen were aware of the development, the local leader said by community standards he has since communicated the threat to the elders, youth and opinion leaders of Canteen who were infuriated by the outburst of the NPP Deputy Organizer and are ready to solidarise with him.
Whilst assuring that his youth will not take the law into their own hands,he noted that he believes in the rule of law and will continuo to discharge his duties as a reporter without fear of intimidation or favor.
It is unclear what the police will do after the report, but management of PAD FM is sending a strong warning to anyone who has intentions of harming its reporters and staff that such acts will not go unpunished and wants the police to investigate the complaint lodged by Ananapansah and take appropriate action.
