Reflect on how to vote incompetent NPP out of power-NDC Regional Organiser urges youth

Reflect on how to vote incompetent NPP out of power-NDC Regional Organiser urges youth

The Savannah Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress(NDC),Mr Inusah Abdulai has charged the youth of Ghana to take a sober reflection and vote the completely inept NPP out of power.

Addressing a gathering of youth at Damongo as part of activities to mark the Eid ul-Adha celebration,he reiterated the fact that;this is a festival of sacrifice unique in nature and character; and usually greeted with merry making.

He said this year's celebration however,is submerged in untold hardship and financial difficulties thanks to the underperformed NPP government, urging electorates especially, the youth to emancipate themselves from this shackles of poverty and hardship by voting the unfit NPP government out of power.

"Eidul-Adha,as we know, traditionally is celebrated in a universal context by both Muslims and non Muslims. The usual merry making with which the celebration is associated makes it a unique festivity.
The fruition of these celebration truly is mired in hardship and financial dificulties under this government.

It's my hope and desire that the electorates, especially the youth of Ghana, will use the past to make projections into the future of hope and bring back the JM government to salvage us from the waters of poverty that engulfed the  festivity.Lets use this festival as a pray point to vote out the NPP in order to be relieved from this current shackles of poverty,"he charged.

He used the occasion to pray for fortitude, good health and prosperity for people within Savannah Region, whilst enjoining all moslems to celebrate in peace, despite the trying and difficult moments of despair and lost hope.

He admonished Ghanaians to keep hopes alive and pray for the return of John Dramani Mahama;for Ghana and Savannah Region will be great once again.

Youth of Canteen embark on clean up campaign to mark Eid al-Adha

Youth of Canteen embark on clean up
campaign to mark Eid al-Adha

A proud Canteen Yaaro, Mr.Ananpansah B Abraham once remarked that,"there is indeed, undiluted joy in communal toil".

And this was well demonstrated....

Eid al-Adha or Eid Qurban, also called the "Festival of the Sacrifice," is celebrated across the globe each year,to honour the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son,Ishmael as an act of obedience to the command of God.

As part of activities marking this holy day,the youth of Canteen, suburb of Damongo in the Savannah Regional capital,in their usual fashion and high sense of patriotism embarked on communal labour in the Canteen Electoral Area to commemorate the day.

With synergy and combined energy, the youth tended to keep the only public toilet in the community squeaky–clean.

The men cleared the grasses, gathered and burnt the garbage, whilst the women swept the interior and assisted the men to mob the floor to keep the washroom tidy and plain as a garment.

The enthusiastic youth responded actively to the campaign, even in the festive season, bearing in mind the cost of treating diarrheal diseases such as Cholera, and other illness in the range of Typhoid,Malaria and dysentery.

They took up the mantle after pleas from community members and users of the comfort station about its filthy nature reached a crescendo with no action from people in authority. This sparked public outrage.

The lead organiser, Abraham Ananpansah who is noted for leading such campaigns in the community, was full of applause for the youth for responding promptly to the bandwagon even at a very short notice.

Whilst the youth were commending him for always taking the bold step and lead in mobilising them to embark on such voluntary activities for the community;he said the glory rather belongs to them for always listening to him and availing themselves in large numbers for such exercises.
The development journalist added that,as community members, positive attitudes clearly removed from indiscriminate littering of such public facilities must be developed for the seek of posterity.

He disclosed that, this is fourth of its kind in the unending series of reviving the seemingly lost spirit of communal labour in Canteen and beyond.

As stated by Mark Herman,he believes the power of the community in creating health is far greater then any physician, clinic and hospital.

He noted that, there is no point in cursing the wind and flooding the airwaves with cacophonous chaos if what we call "Zoomlion fail to sweep the street and desilt the gutters.Diminishing marginal returns must not set in on the ability of the women to carry water, whilst the men mix mortar and put up the buildings. The politics of coloring development and clothing same in partisan politics must not take center stage in our society in his view.

"Individualism must not substitute communism and communal spirit.Let us revisit and renew the spirit of communal labour.Canteen youth is clearly showing the way,"he admonished.

After the entire exercise,an active woman in her middle ages, "youth mother,"as she is popularly known, voluntarily fed all the youth as an expression of her joy.Sister Ama of "Red Bar" supported with an undisclosed sum of money, and to crown it all, NDC party secretary, Mr.Alhassan Braimah gave hand gloves and nose mask to support the youth carryout the exercise.

The power of community mobilization and the seemingly lost days of communal labour:

I hearken back to a poem I wrote months ago and a wave of nostalgia swept over me strongly.
The repeated rhymes of the poem were driven by a drunk desire to see a return of the good old days.see: https://mobile.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/features/Tales-of-the-good-old-days-635397... http://ananpansah-ab.blogspot.com/2018/03/tales-of-good-old-days.html?m=1.

When I talk about the good old days in this written account, I mean to say the days of communal labour. And probably, the days sanitation officers(they were called 'Samasama') use to effectively enforce sanitation laws.
I write of communal labour in a personal coinage as a joint action of community members accomplishing a task to the benefit of the entirety of society.Such labour leads to the achievement of a common goal, thus improving the quality and standard of living of community members and the provision of social amenities.

Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable and a little rain each day will fill the rivers to overflowing.I end with a quote from Jeff Bridges,"The way to change the world is through individual responsibility and taking local action in your own community."

I am a proud Canteen Yaaro!

I lost 2016 election on principle;my comeback is to consolidate gains made-former Daboya MP

I lost 2016 election on principle;my comeback is to consolidate gains made-former Daboya MP

Story by:Ananpansah B Abraham (AB)

The erstwhile Member of Parliament for Daboya/Mankarigu constituency, hon.Baani Abudu Nelson has disclosed that he lost the 2016 parliamentary election on principle.

He said his desire to reclaim the "lost seat" is to consolidate the many gains he made whilst serving as legislator of the constituency:gains in health, infrastructure, education, youth and women empowerment which have since been truncated.

The former legislator who is seeking to go back to parliament on the ticket of the NDC filed his nomination forms days ago heralded by an enthusiastic crowd of party supporters.

Speaking with Ghanaweb's Ananpansah B Abraham,he said the discredited 2016 biometric register of the party offered an opportunity for some candidates to manipulate the parliamentary primaries to their undue advantage.

The party's biometric register which sought to capture about 1.5 million of members in his view, created a safe haven for his contenders to register non-NDC members. And  that,he respected and rather empowered the party leadership in the constituency to register true party members at his own "unforeseen detriment", adding that," I lost on principle ".

He said the top echelon of the party vindicated his position by discrediting the register as giving a misleading impression of the party's true strength in some branches and constituencies as some of the aspirants registered non-NDC members in their bid to win at all cost and by all means.

He holds the strong conviction that, the party's decision to adopt the manual register after the "humiliating" defeat in the 2016 elections for the lack of integrity and credibility of the biometric register offers a level playing field for the true game to commence on the ground.

In terms of numbers,he said the party won with a margin of over 2,000 votes in the 2012 elections when he was the candidate, but in 2016,even with power, the candidate won with only 650 votes.
The party thus, need a more viable candidate who is appealing to all the political divides to retain the seat and increase the votes.

Ahead of the NDC parliamentary primaries, hon.Nelson Baani Abudu who is in the race with other contenders to represent the NDC in the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency in the 2020 elections believes he is the best candidate to perform the magic for the party.

Vision statement:

To provide transformational and strategic leadership.
To stimulate the youth front by implementing consultative policies of inclusiveness, whilst lobbying for developmental projects.

Biography:

Mr.Nelson Baani Abudu was born on 4th October, 1962,at Daboya in the Savannah region.

He started his early education at Daboya and proceeded to Damongo Secondary School where he obtained a G.C.E O' Level certificate.

He holds a Bachelor of Art Degree in Publishing Studies and a certificate of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

As a par excellent customs officer,he rose through the ranks and became the officer in charge of the Investigative Unit of the Customs Exercise and Preventive Service-Ashanti region in the year 2010.

From 2010,he worked at the Special Operation Unit of the Ministry of Finance and Economic planing until 2012 where he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Daboya/Mankarigu constituency on the ticket of the NDC.

Story by:Ananpansah B Abraham

Ghanaians are suffering-Mahama to Akuffo-Addo

Ghanaians are suffering-Mahama to Akuffo-Addo

Story by:Ananpansah B Abraham

Ex-president John Dramani Mahama has intimated that Ghanaians are being subjected to untold hardship under the stewardship of President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo.

In a Facebook post keenly monitored by Ghanaweb's Ananpansah B Abraham,he said Ghanaians today pay more for fuel and transportation than they did under his regime.

He holds the strong conviction that the current state of affairs cannot continue, stating that, "I am ready, very ready!I am ready to work hard to provide jobs for our youth,as well as reduce the high cost of living in the country".

"Our people are suffering. Rising poverty levels is creating anxiety, stress and depression,", he bemoaned.

The NPP he disclosed, told tall tales with lofty rhetoric about the prospects of the economy coupled with plethora of highfalutin promises they never intended to fulfill.

Read the full post below:

John Dramani Mahama

We see the cracks in the foundation of our economy. The NPP told tall tales, with lofty rhetoric, about the prospects for our economy.
They went to town over my administration’s decision to seek financing for infrastructure projects by borrowing on the capital markets.

Yet, when we did so, it involved the well-planned, well-managed use of credit facilities to upgrade our ailing physical infrastructure to meet the needs of a modern middle-income economy.

The fruits of those efforts are visible all around the country - in the new clinics and district hospitals, in affordable housing, in the new roads and rail lines, in our expanded energy generation capacity, in the mechanisation of our agriculture, in our access to potable water supply, in telecommunications, in our aviation industry.

All these and more were made possible by our well-thought out policy agenda - so many, that the government has had to hijack our projects to commission and recommissioning all over the place.

Our government prized principle over popularity and endeavoured to make decisions about every pesewa borrowed on those grounds.

Today, Ghanaians pay far more for fuel and transportation than they paid under the NDC. Unemployment among our youth continues to rise against the backdrop of bankruptcies and collapsing businesses. When importers were promised easier times with reductions on import duties, they ended up paying far more than they ever paid under the NDC. Business associations continue to wail at the impact of the plethora of taxes on their businesses.
Our people are suffering.

Rising poverty levels is creating anxiety, stress and depression. We knew the NPP had no intention of honoring its lofty promises, but the extent of retrogression is unbelievable.

We cannot in good conscience let the current state of affairs continue without standing up to do my part.
I am ready, very ready! I am ready to work hard to provide jobs for our youth, as well as reduce the high cost of living in the country.

-- From my December 17, 2018 address at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra, after successfully filing my nomination for election as the Leader and Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress.
