New Year's Eve:Call For Resolutions Not Revolutions

New Year's Eve:Call For Resolutions Not Revolutions

By: Ananpansah,B Abraham

Here cries the beacon of a New Year,

And nay,here comes a new day;

A new day and God's will to bid thee good bye 2021.

On the Eve at mass,

As the candles glow,

The glory of the Lord blows.

And here beacons the flow and cry of a New Year;

A cry that awakens the call for resolutions not revolutions;

A cry that decree thee holy heavens to crossover with a "build over" to build bridges;

To build bridges in our marriatal and family life,

To build bridges in our relationship,friendship and political life,

To build bridges in our financial, economic, social,racial and work life,

To build bridges in our national and community reconstruction and struggle.

For it's grace for our race,

And we are in a raise in the face of 2022; Glory!

A grace and raise that blossoms and is wholesome above average. Grace!

Oh cry thee,it's a dying year,

And the regrets are the sins and things that stole the happiness from another man; God have mercy!

It's the coming and going of seasons;

And 365 reasons to turn things around this time around.

We are good to set new goals,

And be bold to work on the past blows of life;

Staying down after those blows is an error of grace that will erase our raise. Favor of determination!

Oh thy holy glory!

See your children not in gory, but deliver us from the sorrows and "sorry's" of life;

Keep us awashed,

When our minds go astray in sinful compromise for the vanities of the world;FORGIVE!

Cry and pray thee for divine grace,

Divine grace for the loved one's and lost one's in 2021.

For thy gave and took but 2022 will see us through;

Not by our might,

For grace abounds in leaps and bounds.

We are champions,

So let's pop champagne;

Not in pain but in God's gain we rain; 'Adom kua'.

Let's stress out the stress,

And dress up the mind off distress for God's greatness again!

Let's look forward, revitalised and break cowards!

The year is long gone,

So let logic reign and let go along with it the pain of unforgiveness;

For the kingdom of God must be established,

And all men must be at peace with ease;

Where toes were stepped on,

I step out and blow the trumpet...I am only but fallible me!

For a new year dawns!

Cry thee with cheers,

I say my dear;

Not a tear or fear of the unknown is here to weigh us down in 2022;

Our minds will blend with the best;

We will stand the test;

As we resolve to dissolve the past and evolve divinely into the present;

I will be here always as your humble servant to say cheers in 2022;

CHEERS to a New Year!

Resolutions,not revolutions!

I've gathered enough experience to serve as constituency Secretary-former Student leader declares intention

A former student leader,who recently competed for the position of Municipal Chief Executive for the West Gonja Municipal, Kadri Abdul Rahman has declared his intention to  run for the position of constituency Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

In a declaration statement,the determined young Patriot disclosed that he believes he has gathered enough experience working at the student front and various party positions to avail himself for higher leadership roles in the party in the Damongo constituency.

He recounted his days at the University of Education,Winneba,where he served dilligently as the Students Representative Council president,a platform that helped sharpen his leadership skills, negotiation, diplomacy and administration.

According to him,in the tough days of the New Patriotic Party in opposition,he served as Polling Station Secretary, Deputy Constituency Youth Organizer and and a Constituency Communication team member; where he contributed massively to the 2016 and 2020 victory of the party.

He therefore, holds the strong conviction that this is the right time for him to respond to the many calls from the grassroot of the party by availing himself to be considered for the position of constituency Secretary in the upcoming elections,whilst pledgding to be a unifier and a team player.

"Earlier this year, I presented myself to be considered for the appointment of MCE for the Damongo municipality, but that was not meant to be within the will of God who controls the affairs of man. As a firm believer of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition however, I firmly understand that our service to the growth of this tradition is not limited to only people serving in government, but even more importantly is to serve through the party that births the government.

"In view of this, fellow patriots,  I wish to respectfully bring to your attention my ambition to contest for the office of the CONSTITUENCY SECRETARY in our great party; the New Patriotic Party, here in the Damongo constituency when the time is due for nominations"- he said.

On his leadership experience,he said,

"In our tough days in opposition, I served  as a polling station Secretary from 2009-2013 and also served as a deputy Constituency youth organizer in the Damongo constituency from 2013-2017 where I served faithfully. In the last ten years however, I have also served as a communications team member for the party.

"This eventually culminated into our massive victory as witnessed in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

" During my student days at the university, I also served at the highest level of student leadership as the  SRC president. This singular honour, created a huge platform for me to sharpen my leadership skills, negotiation, diplomacy, administration and broaden my horizon".

We'll protect our lands without resorting to violence-youth of Wasipe

We'll protect our lands without resorting to violence-youth of Wasipe

The youth of Wasipe in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region have pledged their commitment to maintaining peace in the area,even as they desire to protect the lands their forefathers bequeted onto them.

In a press statement signed by Mahama Shaibu Baba,the youth indicated that the era of acquisition of land by conquest was over, describing as unfortunate threats of violence purportedly being authored by some chiefs and elders of Janga in the North East Region.

Whilst appreciating the role played by the Savannah Regional Minister in calming tensions in the area,they called on the security agencies to investigate the intimidation and threats of war by the elders and chief of Janga.

Read full statement below:

PRESS RELEAS BY WASIPE YOUTH

2ND DECEMBER, 2021

Our attention has been drawn to a news item which was carried by Joy New on 30th November, 2021 about looming tension at Lukula of the Wasipe Traditional Areain the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region. Said report by the Joy News Reporter, Eliasu Tanko of the North East Region, was unfortunate and regrettable. It was completely needless as it seeks to promote conflict in the area.

The people of Wasipe Traditional Area in particular, and Gonjaland in general are peace loving people who always promote peaceful co-existence with other people who have common boarders with them, as part of efforts to develop their young Savannah Region. We will therefore not be unnecessarily drawn into any form of exchange arising from intimidation and threats of violence purportedly coming from some elders and chiefs of Janga in the North East Region.

It is a known fact that Gonjas, as a people, are always guided by the basic principles of Rule of Law in their efforts to develop their land.

The leadership and membership of the Wasipe Youth Association are therefore urging the youth of Daboya and Gonjaland in general to remain calm in the height of the unfortunate and uncultured comments coming from the so called dirty chief who called himself “Soo Naba” of the Mamprugu Area.

We however find it important to state that, though the said intimidations and threats may be coming from some elders and chiefs of Janga, which could be considered irresponsible and uncalled for, we urge the youth and people of Wasipe to treat the intimidation and threats with the contempt they desire.

We the leadership of Wasipe Youth Association will use every lawful means to ensure that not even a small piece of land legitimately belonging to Wasipe Traditional Area and for that matter Gonjaland get lost to anybody, either through intimidation, threat, conflict, or any other reason, as some useless acclaimed chiefs and elders of Janga appear to promote.

As youth of Gonjaland, we place a very high value on the lives and properties of our people, and shall guard our land forever. It must be noted that, the era of acquisition of land by conquest is long gone, and this is well settled under law of Ghana.

All peace loving and civilized groups are expected to take particular note of this and act accordingly.

In this regard, we wish to urge the Security Agencies who have been working very hard to maintain peace and order in the Traditional Area and its environs to investigate  and establish the veracity or otherwise of the intimidation and threats of war, conflict and violence by the elders and that dirty chief of Janga, called Soo Naba Nantogma Seidu.

Any adverse findings should be dealt with accordingly and decisively.

The Wasipe Youth Association is willing to assist and cooperate with the security Agencies in this regard.

It is worth nothing that we are aware and appreciated efforts by the Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Saeed Muhaz Jibril, to maintain calm in the area.

We therefore urge him not to be distracted by any threats and unsubstantiated allegations against their persons by some individuals who are seeking their parochial interest.

As the youth of Wasipe, we shall remain committed to our honourable duty and responsibility to protect every piece of our land conquered for us by our ancestors and great Warrior and Founder of the Gonja Kingdom, Alhaji Sumaila Ndewura Jakpa. We have absolute confidence in our Traditional Authorities and their ability to protect and defend our land without resorting to violence unless otherwise compelled by circumstance to do the contrary with full vigor without fears.

The leadership and membership of Wasipe Youth Association wish to express our profound appreciation to youth, elders and chiefs of Wasipe Traditional Area and Gonjaland in general for remaining calm amidst the baseless and unwarranted intimidation and threats coming from the dirty pig who called himself a chief of Janga.

May the Almighty Allah bless us all.

We need a formidable candidate to win election 2024- NPP Tallahassee Chapter

We need a formidable candidate to win election 2024- NPP Tallahassee Chapter

The intellectual wing of the ruling New Patriotic Party in Tallahassee in the United States of America has made a strong case for the party to present a very strong candidate moving into the 2024 general elections.

This the groups believes will go a long way to consolidate the gains of the party and help the elephant family break the eight years election cycle.

In an inaugural statement, Abubakari Shani Bawumiah,the president of the group recalled what he described 'the painful memories of the 2008 elections, noting that the party risk going into opposition for more than a decade if the right choice of a presidential candidate is not made to help the party 'break the 8'.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, our resolve for the theme for today’s program is ' strategizing to break the 8 in 2024'. We choose this theme because , we are of a strong believe that, our party risk going into opposition for over a decade if we don’t get involved in making the right call for the right and deserving person to lead us into the 2024 elections. The sad and painful memories of the events that took place in Ghana after 2008 elections are still fresh in our memories".

According to the group, president Kuffour had build Ghana to the status of a middle income country with a promising future,but because the party could not manage its internal primaries well and went into elections 2008 with a divided front,it lost power to the NDC.

The president reiterated that fact that the unity and bond that birthed the Danquah,Dombo and Busia Tradition was not just the party colors,but the exceptional allegiance the party pay to the principles and tenets of development in freedom.

He pledged to work faithfully and dilligently together with his colleague executives to increase the lots of party.

The group commended Hanan Aludiba,the CEO of National Buffer Stock Company, who was present at the occasion for the immense support.

They were equally grateful to Obaa Yaa Frimpong,Salam Mustapha and the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, chairman Samba.

Dass @50: 1998 batch hands over mechanized borehole to school

Dass @50: 1998 batch hands over mechanized borehole to school

As part of activities to commemorate the 50 years Anniversary of the Damongo Senior High School (Dass),the 1998 year group has commissioned a mechanized borehole for the school.

This they believe would go a long way to ameliorate the agelong plight students go through in accessing portable water for school chores.

Funding for the project valued at Ghc10,254.00 was sourced after the members of the year group adopted a resolution on their Watsapp platform to raise funds from among themselves to realise their dream of giving back to the school community that made them clean water.

In a speech read on behalf of the year group,Adam Zackariah glorified the Almighty God for bringing the initiative to reality.

He disclosed that the idea to mechanise the borehole for the school was first mooted on the year group Watsapp platform sometime in January 2021, by one of their members,Brutus Kofi Sarpong,a one-time National Service Personnel of the school.

A delegation led by Sulemana Asuma met the then Headmaster of the school,Abubakari Salia to further consolidate and harmonise their intended desire to mechanise a borehole facility for their Alma Mata and the outcome of the discussion was mutual.

The "old bone"  said but for unity of purpose,the initiative wouldn't have seen the light of the day.

Special appreciation was expressed to Chairman Yakubu Mumuni,Alhaji Alhassan Sulemana,Madam Sadia Aminu and Mr. Abass Azumah for the exceptional financial contributions they made towards the project among others.

The group also extended their profound gratitude to the the senior prefects of their time: Dennis Faruk,Attah Mukaila and Adam Zack for their continuous unique leadership roles and coordinated efforts in keeping the spirit of the group alive.

Tributes were poured out to Adam Soale of blessed memory for creating the year group platform and bringing members together.

The group hinted of more of such projects in the coming years.

Assemblyman hands over borehole facility to community on behalf of NGANE

Assemblyman hands over borehole facility to community on behalf of NGANE

The Assemblyman for the Canteen Electoral Area, Ananpansah Bartholomew Abraham has handed over a hand pump borehole facility to residents of Canteen and Frafra Number 1 in the Canteen Electoral Area of the West Gonja Municipal of the Savannah Region.

He disclosed that, it was a blessing to have secured the borehole facility, which will go a long way to augment the already existing boreholes in addressing the water challenges in the electoral area.

According to him, the full funding for the project was by the Association of New England,USA under the coordinated efforts of Cletus Achibonga,Fatawu Mahama and Seidu Bangam,who are all born and bread in Canteen,but now resident in the United States of America in what can be christened as, "giving back to society".

He said efforts are underway through the project coordinators to get the facility fully mechanized for wider usage.

In a speech read on behalf of NGANE,the Assembly member said the diaspora association is expecting Canteen community to be good stewards of the facility in order to pave way for more of such privileges.

He said the challenge mostly has to do with regular maintenance of such facilities, adding that,last month alone he had to secure funding to repair close to nine (9) hand pump boreholes across the electoral area due to the lack of management plan.This he said has since compelled him to constitute a Water Management Committee for the electoral area under his supervision to assist in the management of the water systems in the entire electoral area.

"In return for this favor, NGANE expects the people of Canteen to collectively take good care of this borehole so that it will serve our water needs for a long time. They are convinced that the people of Canteen will claim this project as our own and be good caretakers of the borehole. Should we prove to be  good stewards, it will go long way to attracting other developmental initiatives coming from NGANE," he said.

The Assemblyman assured NGANE of good stewardship of the facility on behalf of the community and noted that, for three sons of the soil through NGANE to give water back to the society that made them was an act of God that can never be forgotten by the community.

Like Oliver Twist,he appealed to NGANE to support the community in other areas of development such as education and agriculture, whilst calling on other well meaning individuals from the community and organisations to follow the good example of NGANE and the three able sons of the soil through whom the project was made possible.

Mr. John Osman,who represented the Municipal Chief Executive described the Assemblyman as a very hard-working young man and a worthy representative of the people of Canteen.

He said it was a great blessing for Canteen to have secured such a life changing facility from NGANE through three of its sons now resident in the USA.

He said the Municipal Assembly was ready to augment such development efforts and called on the people of Canteen to continue to rally their support behind the Assembly man for him to continue to act as a good liason between the community and development partners.

Mr. Rockson Diwura,who spoke on behalf of the chiefs of the community conveyed appreciation to the donors and  reiterated that, it was a great delight for people who were born and bread in Canteen to continue to remember the community by giving back such important gestures.

He said the Assemblyman, who in no mean words is very hard-working and development oriented deserves commendations for always working with relevant development partners to facilitate development in the community, calling on the community to continue to pray and support him to change the face of the community.

He used the occasion to call on other well meaning individuals of the community and organizations to follow the good example of NGANE.

Mallam Iddrisu,the chief Imam of the community called for unity of purpose and prayed for the official opening of the borehole facility, whilst encouraging the Assembly person to continue to lobby for more development projects for the community.

The immediate past Assemblyman for the area, hon. Mohammed Gadafi lauded the current Assemblyman for the good works he was doing for the community. He said devoid of the political differences,he has decided to throw his full support behind the Assemblyman for the development of the community, since the vision he had for area was the same vision the current Assemblyman was pursuing.

LIFE IS BUT A WALKING SHADOW: DAMONGO YOUTH PARLIAMENT (DYP) COMMISERATE WITH FAMILY OF OUR P.R.O,SAAKA KARIM OF BLESSED MEMORY

LIFE IS BUT A WALKING SHADOW: DAMONGO YOUTH PARLIAMENT (DYP) COMMISERATE WITH FAMILY OF OUR P.R.O,SAAKA KARIM OF BLESSED MEMORY

Life’s but a walking shadow, a power player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.” (Macbeth).

In the Qur’an, specifically Surah Baqarah Ayat 156 it states, “Who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”

Today,our eyes are heavy,our hearts are troubled,but as believers,we believe every soul owes God and death.

Death indeed, is inescapable! To die, to sleep; To sleep, perchance to dream.

Saaka Karim (Lotic) has fully played his part on the slippery stage of life. Damongo Youth Parliament (DYP) will miss that committed P.R.O who was very passionate about the development of Gonjaland.

Lotic as he was affectionately called played an instrumental role when the idea of the formation of Damongo Youth Parliament (DYP) was mooted. I had always described him as the most committed panelist of our Parliament ON Air program.  Anytime the story of the Damongo Youth Parliament is to be written or told,the name Saaka Karim (Lotic) will form a core memory.

In this very trying times,our supplications are to the wife and family of Saaka Karim of blessed memory. Revelation 21:4 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. ...

Psalm 34:18. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 147:3. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

By way of mourning the untimely demise of our late brother, Damongo Youth Parliament has suspended all its activities forthwith. The Parliament and its mother body,PAD FM will bring listeners a live radio interaction of the life and story of the late Saaka Karim on the morning show come Tuesday morning from 9:00am(breakfast show).

Kindly listen below the last interview Lotic granted to PAD FM on behalf of the Damongo Youth Parliament (DYP).

RIPP bossom friend,till we meet again. We'll forever remember and miss your dedication, humor and hardwork.

It is indeed finished and you've dully accomplished your mission on earth!

Serve with humility-Savannah Regional Minister goad MMDCE nominees

Serve with humility-Savannah Regional Minister goad MMDCE nominees

The Savannah Regional Minister and Ag. Municipal Chief Executive for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Saeed Muhazu Jibreal has admonished the recently nominated Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives(MMDCEs) to endeavor to serve their people with a high sense of respect and humility.

According to him, power in its nature can sometimes trick people to feel superior to the people they are supposed to be serving, adding that,at all times, power must belong to the people.

Quoting from former president Rawlings of blessed memory, the minister cautioned the nominees-yet-to-be-confirmed not to allow themselves be be carried away by the people's power vested into their hands and begin to act like demigods.

"Who remembers this man?the minister quized in a statement copied exclusively to blogger, Ananpansah,B Abraham.

"Power can trick people. It can make you feel bigger than God. But remember the power is not forever. Be humble for you were just like the ordinary people on the streets and one day,you will surely return to them. Treat them as them with humility and always remember your roots,"he said.

The minister disclosed that the confirmation of the various MMDCE nominees of the Savannah Region was scheduled to start on 30th September,2021, starting from Doboya in the North Gonja District. He used the opportunity to appeal to all honorable Assembly members to accept the president's nominees for the region in order to enhance the smooth operation of the various MMDA across the region.

The president on Sunday, September 19,2021, through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development released the list of the 260 MMDCEs to head the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the 16 political administrative regions of Ghana.

The Savannah Region with a total of seven administrative localities has Veronica Alela and Adam Eliasu reappointed to serve in the Bole and North Gonja Districts respectively. Karim Musah Kusubari will head the West Gonja Municipal with Losina Barchisu taking charge of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District. Iddrisu Salia,Mohammed Tamimu and Mohammed Musah Tindawu are the men to represent the president at the Central Gonja District,East Gonja Municipal and North East Gonja District respectively.

Many Ghanaians are however, worried about the low representation of Women in the list of appointees in consonance with Article 35(6b) of the constitution of Ghana which lays emphasis on gender balance in the recruitment and appointment of public officers.

Tales of a living legend - the Osagyefo of all times

Tales of a living legend - the Osagyefo of all times

A man of his words. Born with worth on the 21 September, 1909, at Nkroful in the Western Region of Gold Coast (modern day Ghana). Accomplished his mission on earth on 27 April,1972 (62 years on earth) at Bucharest, Romania.

The powerful brain behind the formation of the Convention People's Party (1949–1966) after breaking away from the United Gold Coast Convention (1947–1949).Ousted in a coup led by Gen. Afrifa and Kotoka in 1966 that brought to an end the first Republic.

A Pan-Africanist who united the entire Africa and waged a bandwagon that led to Africa boycotting the 1966 World cup over unfair treatment (Africa,Oceania and Asia were ask to compete for only a single slot).He will later organize the West Africa Football Cup in 1959 and birth the Ghana Black stars in the same year in history. A treasure to cherish.

It is or should be said that on the 6th of March, out of a task that was daunting and might, this man with great valor descended words like thundercloud from mars:”At long last, the battle has ended! And thus, Ghana your beloved country is free forever!”

Yeah yeah!That was the eloquent and enthusiastic voice of my gallant first president.And worth as it was, the crowd with eyes widely opened cheered, hurray!Yes, it was a clean break and our country was given the long rope to think – free and build bridges again without looking neither East nor West but forward.

Infact,our forbearers led by transformational Nkrumah haven’t fought and won the battle as expected. They were confronted with the challenges of independence which in itself was a novelty, but were never overwhelmed by that fact and hence did more than Napoleon to avoid any penalties therefrom by taking useful steps to lay the foundation of our dear country.

This was visible in the massive industrialization. Indeed, the country was very young, but their vision for the infant rare noun (Ghana) was long and we don’t need to go any yonder to find the burden of that vision. It was a vision far beyond just political freedom.A vision of hope and transformation.

And the message therein carried by the founder Dr . Kwame Nkrumah was clear enough, “Countrymen,the task ahead is great indeed, and heavy is the responsibility; and yet it is a noble and glorious challenge – a challenge which calls for the courage to dream, the courage to believe, the courage to dare, the courage to do, the courage to envision, the courage to fight, the courage to work, the courage to achieve the highest excellence and the fullest greatness of man.

Dare we ask for more in life?” Indeed, dare we ask for more in life!The message was thus simple! They have laid their lives.They have prepared the way.

And as birds of passage at the mercy of the creator’s say, are now eternally away! Several years down the lane, the baton has been handed over to successive crop of leaders to continue the leadership marathon race by intensifying the political freedom so anchored with extensions in economic freedom, financial freedom, freedom of the mind ad infinitum.

Let's start reflecting on the truth:

After many decades of independence, have those so entrusted with power continued the vision, ideas, policies and transformational agenda of the founder?Have we felt the Ghana so envisioned or  it is best reflected in mere speeches?

Have our trustees led us in trust to reshape our destiny as a country through functional policy directions to justifiably pride ourselves as the beacon of democracy in Africa, and for that matter, the first African country South the Sahara to gain independence?

Guided by our present condition and consciousness, should our political independence provide a cause to celebrate the gains or a recourse to reflect again and think about our collective failures towards a change?Well, your answers might just be right as mine.

Several decades after independence,we are in the midst of abundance and should be reflecting towards liberating our people from the clutches of unjustified poverty, diseases and hunger. It is an error of grace to allow ourselves to be constantly compelled by our visionless leaders of today to atone for mediocrity or what Dr.Mensah Otabil refers to as “Ordinariness.”

We have over the years planted history wrongly in the minds of the innocent generation.

Countrymen as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of all times will put it, I humbly submit that it’s a point of reflection and change when after so many decades of independence, and with all the minerals, cocoa, oil, water, power and fertile lands, the masses are still enslaved in unbridled poverty with little or no access to education and basic health care.

When our educational system is still highly colonial in nature. Or is it the case of what Nkrumah said which I have slightly modified, “Ghana is a paradox which illustrates and highlights neocolonialism.

Her earth is rich in natural resources, yet the products that come from above and below the soil continue to enrich, not Ghanaians predominantly, but the west or groups and individuals who work to Ghana’s impoverishment”.

Imagine this blank truth:after these many years, we feel very proud and content to kneel before the very people we boldly told in the face,”the black man is capable of managing his own affairs! for aid?

These words were meant with action from the founding fathers but we long lost the vision and reaction,and surprisingly are not learning any lessons. As if he knew, Nkrumah rightly warned us against dependence on capitalist global institutions such as UNO and the Breton Woods institutions such as IMF and world Bank. But a stubborn child is always a stubborn child and will not hearken to wise counsel. Such a child is like the prodigal son who after lavishing all his due in wild living would have to bow his head down in shame and return to where he had known for forgiveness and support.

Today,our highly reverred security have adopted the habit of aiming into unarmed civilians and shooting to death in a shameful bid to satisfy unseen political hands. Citizens killed and maimed with impunity for clueless leaders to assume the reigns of power. What a pity!

Agriculture which happens to be our backbone and major informal sector employer is reported to be on the verge of collapse by the World Bank.This should be a cause for reflection and change not celebration.

Countrymen,this is our current state and an honest assessment of our individual and collective situation will reveal shame. But I can clearly state without equivocating, that there is still hope for my country no matter the circumstances. And that hope is you and must be reborn on common sense revolution and national reconstruction.We must think again and reap the gain! Let us together as a country, put our best foot forward and scrape the transformation agenda together. Let us whistle in the night with eyes wide open.We can’t be comfortably glorifying mediocrity year – in – year out. It’s an error!It is equally an error to claim to have leaders when the masses are ironically “laughing”.

It doesn’t happen that way.

Ghana was born in me and I explore you at this point to join hands let's celebrate the life of a living hero- Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who never dies. We must draw useful lessons from his selfless life and leadership story.

I love my country and challenge you at this point in history to stay awake and say:We will not sleep anymore!No more blind politics.Development we must get. Poverty we must not.

I hope you read and appreciate this piece like a Ghanaian(statesman) and not a politician.

May God bless our homeland Ghana and make us great and strong to build a better nation.

Damongo Youth Parliament and Canteen Youth Impound 550 Bags of Charcoal

Damongo Youth Parliament and Canteen Youth Impound 550 Bags of Charcoal

The Damongo Youth Parliament (DYP) together with the youth of Canteen in the West Gonja Municipal of the Savannah Region has seized bags of charcoal loaded in commercial quantities being smuggled out of the region.

A total of 550 bags of charcoal were impounded from a long vehicle believed to be bound from Kotito Number 2 to the southern part of Ghana.

The charcoal car was intercepted along the Canteen to Agric Offices road near the Canteen cemetery following a tip-off.

Upon a sober reflection and consultation with the key actors,the confiscated charcoal was given to the Canteen  Women at no cost. All the women around took home atleast, a bag of charcoal.

Some bags of the charcoal were taken to the Yagbonwura and his Chief linguist as exibits.

The action of the aggrieved youth became necessary after the driver of the said long vehicle failed to own up for the fear that the car would be led to the Yagbonwura's palace and its content off-loaded.

The initial demand of the youth was for the driver of the long charcoal vehicle to unmask him/herself and move the vehicle to the Yagbonwura's palace were the charcoal will be unloaded for further decision and action.

The evasive mate to the driver provoked the hell out of the youth when he failed to disclosed the whereabout of his boss compelling the youth to unladen the charcoal out of the truck.

Whilst the charcoal was being off-loaded,the buyer and the owner of the said charcoal appeared from the "blue sky's" and pleaded profusely and emotionally with the youth to give him a last chance.It was drama reincarnated at last!

He said he was ready to pay the youth any amount of money to be allowed to go,but the steady youth resisted any offer of money and carried through with their action of off-loading the entire content of the long vehicle.

The desperate charcoal buyer who used the name of God and money to plead with the youth, disclosed that he had already spent a lot on middle men among others, adding that, his life will be ruined if the charcoal is confiscated.

It can be recalled that at a 'Regional Consultative Forum with the youth' on the Environment and Sustainable Development held on August 28,2021, the chiefs and youth adopted a resolution to clamp down on the activities of loggers and commercial charcoal burners in the various districts of the Savannah Region in an attempt to restore the fragile vegetative cover.

The stakeholders' dialogue was called at the instance of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs and chaired by Buipewura Jinapor II, who is the chairman of the Yagbonwura's committee of Five Eminent Chiefs.

The youth groups in various areas were handed the power by the Committee of Eminent Chiefs and tasked to lead the enforcement of the ban, with the Buipewura charging them to confiscate any charcoal that attempts to leave the soils of the region effective 29th August, 2021.
